A supper club solves one problem. You want a dinner party. A real menu, a table you sit down at, people staying for the last course. You just do not want to plan it, shop for it, cook it, or clean it up.
Thursday Dinners runs a seasonal supper club in Chicago built around exactly that.
How it differs from a private chef booking
A private chef dinner is fully yours. Your guest list, your space, a menu built around your occasion.
A supper club is a shared table. We set a date, build a seasonal menu, and open a limited number of seats. Friend groups, couples, and people coming alone all join.
Want the whole room to yourselves? Book a private chef instead. Want a shared table with more conversation and less obligation? The supper club is the one.
What a night looks like
Supper club nights run family-style. A full seasonal menu, served course by course, at one shared table.
Menus change with what is good that week. Not a fixed rotation. We shop Green City Market when it runs, Dill Pickle Food Co-op, Local Foods, and a short list of butchers and fishmongers we trust. A menu built in April looks different from one built in October.
Locations move around the city by season and space. A borrowed dining room. A studio with good light. A backyard when the weather earns it. The format stays the same. One table. One menu. Everyone seated together.
Who it is for
Mixed friend groups who want a night out that is not a restaurant reservation.
Couples who want something with more texture than dinner and a movie.
People newer to a neighborhood, like Logan Square, Andersonville, Ravenswood, or Bucktown, who want to eat well without organizing a big group of their own.
Anyone who has hosted enough dinner parties to know they would rather sit down for this one.
It fits if you like the private chef idea but do not have eight friends free the same Tuesday. It also fits if you would rather split a seat at a table than plan the whole evening yourself.
Booking a seat
Supper club dates are limited on purpose. We would rather run a smaller table well than a big one carelessly.
Seats and pricing are set per date, not sold off a fixed menu. The best way to find out what is coming up is to send a booking inquiry and ask what is next. Tell us how many seats you need and any allergies or dishes to avoid. We will fit you in.
For the fully private version of the same idea, see the private chef page. Or go back to the Chicago dinners hub for the full range of what we cook.
FAQ
Is the supper club private, or do we share the table with others? It is a shared table. You will likely sit with other guests. That is part of what makes it feel different from a private dinner.
Can I book the whole supper club for my group? Sometimes, depending on the date and guest count. Ask when you send an inquiry. Otherwise, a private chef booking gives you the room to yourselves.
How much does a seat cost? Pricing is set per date, based on the menu. We do not quote it in advance. Ask when you reach out and we will tell you what the current date runs.
Do you handle dietary restrictions at a shared table? Yes. Tell us when you book. We build your plate around it instead of leaving you to work around the menu.
Where in Chicago do supper club nights happen? Locations rotate by season and availability, often around Lincoln Park, Wicker Park, and West Loop, among other neighborhoods. We confirm the exact spot once your seat is booked.
